The proseminar is a team-taught course designed to give our new graduate students a broad view of the Department’s faculty, the courses they teach, and their fields of research. In addition, the proseminar familiarizes our students with the contests and expectations of our programs, and also with current directions and central discussions in our profession. Each week a faculty member or special guest will meet with the students and present a sample of her or his recent publications and/or work in progress, or will introduce a topic or interest in our diverse fields of specialization.
The proseminar is a one unit, S/U course. It is required of all new graduate students. Regular attendance, reading of assigned materials, and participation are required.
